Since the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order started in March, Fidalgo Island Rotary stopped meeting in person, and instead, took to Zoom for its weekly Tuesday morning meetings. While it's great to see everyone's face (sometimes, right up their nose, if the camera angle is off!) it doesn't replace some of our favorite things about Rotary! One thing many Rotarians are missing is hands-on service projects in the community. Pam Estvold and Phil Case to the rescue! Pam has been completing small service projects on her own throughout the lockdown - weeding here, painting there, sprucing up beautiful Anacortes - and last week invited the rest of the club to join her! Interested members emailed Pam, and were assigned a group. These groups of 2-5 members, wearing masks and social distancing, are completing small projects around town. On Tuesday this past week, Linda Dobbs led her group, which included Mike Tallering, Kandy Dubuque, Larry Thomas and Brock Ward, to Causland Park, where they fearlessly tackled weeds to make the park's flower beds sparkle once more! (See Mike Tallering demonstrate proper weeding-technique above, thanks to Madelyn Case's expert gardening advice)
Are YOU interested in participating in these projects? Contact Pam or Phil to be assigned a group! These small group projects will continue so long as we have volunteers and projects, so now is the time to get involved and do a little good in the neighborhood.
