EarthPhil Day was celebrated on May 10th 2024. FIR members gathered to honor Phil Case, who passed away April 7th 2023. Members gathered where Phil's benches are placed on the Tommy Thompson trail to weed, mow, trim and spread bark. What an amazing hands on, weeds up, mulch down celebration in honor of Phil. Much manual labor was exerted for at least 75 minutes by the fifteen or so Rotarians on site... mowing, weeding, blackberry clipping and removing, raking, sweeping, blowing, plus ten bags of mulch dispersed in and around Phil's Pocket Park.
Then came the crescendo of this well orchestrated gathering... attaching the new signage honoring Phil Case.
A lovely assortment of post work pairings were provided by Steve Rutz: cheese and crackers, carrots and celery, assorted nuts, fruit and Salt & Vinegar Chips (one of Phil's fav). Madelyn offered up a dram of single malt scotch for all who were interested, to raise in remembrance of Phil (as that was his drink of choice).
