Fidalgo Island Rotary Club held it's 2024 Auction on March 16th at the Skyline Clubhouse. The Auction was spearheaded by Sarah Davies and the fundraising team. With a Casino Royale Theme the club raised $44,000+ , our largest auction fundraiser to date. There are so many people that were involved to make this auction a success, donating their time, auction items, purchasing items and cash donations - THANK YOU! This auction was a success because of you.
Your contributions will fund:
- Fidalgo Island Rotary’s local service projects which include: free Kids Boat Building Booth at Waterfront Festival the first weekend in June, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides a free book each month to any child from birth to five years old living in the Anacortes zip code, financial support to organizations such as the Anacortes Family Center, Immigrant Resources Immediate Support (IRIS), Reading is Fundamental, Rachel’s Closet, Anacortes Waterfront Alliance, Northwest Skills Center, Dinner at the Brick and Scout troops, as well as local students and educational programs
- Fidalgo Island Rotary's international service projects which include: Supporting El Chilar School in Honduras, Contributing to Medical Missions by Dr. Stephen Miller, Supporting adopted village of La Laguna in Honduras, Contributing toward the purchase of a van for Heart of Hope Orphanage in Romania, used to provide transportation to Ukrainian refugees, Providing more than 2,000 backpacks annually filled with school supplies and uniforms to students in Honduras, Sponsoring individual students in Honduras
- Connie Kelley Vocation Scholarship, an annual scholarship awarded to residents of Fidalgo or Guemes islands who are pursuing vocational or technical education
As part of the auction the club recognized Justin Portz with a Paul Harris Award. Justin is the Athletics and Activities Director of Anacortes High School, recognized for his work cultivating a positive, winning culture for our community's youth.
