Vocational Scholarship
The Connie Kelley Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to residents of Fidalgo or Guemes islands who are pursuing vocational or technical education. The scholarship is given in remembrance of Constance “Connie” Kelley, who was a charter member of Fidalgo Island Rotary in 1997. Connie, who was well known for owning Profiles Hair Salon in town, epitomized courage, optimism, determination and dedication to community service, qualities also required of Connie Kelley Scholarship recipients. Recent recipients have been pursuing vocational education in areas such as nursing, brewing, massage therapy, mechanics, drug counseling and cosmetology, and scholarship amounts vary, with a minimum of $1,000 per recipient.
Past recipients have been pursuing careers or education in nursing, brewing,
cosmetology, physical therapy, massage therapy, computer programing, culinary arts, counseling and more.
